Patio Roof Designs
There are several different patio roof designs that can help protect you and your family from the burning sun, pouring rain and pesky insects. The types of roof designs for your patio range from simple to more extravagant. For example, many people choose something as basic as a large patio umbrella to provide coverage. Others want something more substantial like a pergola or an awning. It all depends on your climate, your budget and what you think looks best next to your home. It is a good idea to coordinate details of your patio with your home for a flowing look.
Wooden pergolas are great for anyone who wants more coverage than an umbrella can provide. These standing devices can be dressed up with climbing vines such as Morning Glory. Because climbing vines are usually so fast growing you will need to maintain them regularly to keep a uniform look. Usually a simple trim on a regular basis is all it takes to keep your pergola from becoming overgrown with vines. Plants that cover your pergola not only provide beauty but more privacy as well.
There are also awnings made from vinyl to consider. An awning hangs from your roof over your patio area and adds shade and protection. Vinyl is durable and affordable, and ideal for summer months because they do allow sunlight to reach the patio although it is filtered. They are not the best bet for a rainy climate, however. For rainy areas metal roof designs are best. Metal is an even more durable covering choice and can be permanently nailed down for protection from the elements. No matter what material you choose for a roof it is important to comparison shop for the best quality and price.
When searching for patio roof designs, consider both online shopping and shopping in person. If you are someone who would rather buy your patio roof materials in person there are stores like Home Depot and Menards that have what you need. Or, you can order the items online from a variety of different stores. The downside to online ordering is the shipping costs and the inconvenience that occurs if the item must be shipped back. Look for merchants with reduced price or free shipping and a good return policy.
